The Stepping Stones of Love...Part I

Image
The content of this article is taken from one of my favorite Self-Realization Fellowship magazine issues from 2016. It was written by Bruce Brander. The narrative is so thought-provoking that I could not resist publishing it on my blog.  I have only taken bits and pieces from this inspirational piece; however, the full article is worth reading. It is filled with wisdom and insightful guidance about the confusion surrounding what the world calls love. I hope you enjoy it! And be sure to read my thoughts on this topic in the blog post *The Stepping Stones of Love, Part Il  Romance and Selfishness The author calls romantic love eros . This type of love is often steeped in selfishness, lust, possession, and impulses. He writes that "many social scientists look harshly on the kind of love that rises so hopefully then ebbs as reliably as the tide, leaving many partners stranded on an emotional desert island."  Sociologist Pitirim Sorokin, who founded the Harvard Research Center...

The Illusory World and its Delusions

Image
The world is not what it seems. Yes, it exists, but your eyes and mind are playing tricks on you.  For example, take a look at the illusions below from ( brightside.me ) The image of the bicycle wheels appears to be turning, but this is an illusion. The second image is also an illusion. Can you make out what is actually in the image?   I will now try to explain why and how this world is an illusion, and hopefully help you understand it better. Between paragraphs, I will include images to demonstrate how easily appearances can be deceiving. For example, consider the image below what do you see? Albert Einstein once said, "Reality is merely an illusion, although a very persistent one." His words align concisely with the main points of this article.  E ven though it’s challenging to break free from the illusion of this world, escape you must, if you want to achieve true happiness.    The Difference Between Delusion and Illusion There is a reason I use both the...

God Is Better

Image
Do the words "God Is Better" mean anything to you? Or, let's put it this way, have those words ever crossed your mind? Maybe you've heard the phrase God Is Better before but never really thought much about them...until now. Perhaps perplexing global events cause you to pause and contemplate whether there is something better. Well, there is something better... God Is Better and there's no getting around it. With so much confusion and destruction in the world people are simply becoming unhinged.  They don't know what to do or where to turn. All the other favored go-to solutions are failing. As a result, individuals are struggling to cope with the perplexities of everyday life. However, t here is one way of relief from it all and that's by turning to God.  Unfortunately, God is the last place many individuals seek for solace. When if they had kept a close spiritual contact with Him many negative situations could have been avoided.  This isn't about emot...

Don't Worry...The World Has Always Been A Mess Part I

Image
"Out yonder there was this huge world, which exists independently of us human beings and which stands before us like a great, eternal riddle, at least partially accessible to our inspection and thinking. The contemplation of this world beckoned like a liberation…" -Albert Einstein The world appears chaotic and that's because in a way it is. But it's nothing new. The world has always been a mess and it will continue to be a mess long after we're gone. Don't get me wrong, the world is beautiful, amazing, and miraculous. However, these realities only blossom when we can perceive this wonderful planet of ours through the eyes of spiritual maturity and understanding. If not, the world will scare and depress you and will make no sense at all. From its conception, the  "material" world has been filled with turmoil. Yet, when you view the world through "seeing eyes" the misery, death, and destruction take on a different meaning. Of course, it does ...

Apocalypse Now?

Image
The word apocalypse has it origins in Ancient Greek  apokálypsis (ἀποκάλυψις) and essentially means a lifting of the veil . Others describe the term as a catastrophic event giving rise to immense destruction and change. Even so, the interpretation of the word 'apocalypse' depends on one's state of consciousness and how they perceive the world. The site Bibleodyssey states that: In contemporary popular culture, we often use the term apocalypse to describe the end of the world. Yet, our word apocalypse comes from an ancient Greek word meaning revelation or unveiling and carries a slightly different nuance.  For scholars, “apocalypse” refers to a genre of literature about supernatural revelation within ancient Mediterranean, East African, and West Asian worlds. Apocalypse Now - Later - Or When I came across an interesting article titled The Best Apocalypses in History.  The write-up is a reminder that it's not unusual for groups or individuals to concoct apocalyptic p...

Don't Worry...The World Has Always Been A Mess Part II

Image
So many people are extremely concerned about the comings-and-goings taking place around the world today, so I wrote a post titled Don't Worry...The World Has Always Been A Mess Part 1 . Well, I decided to write a part-two to that post. This second part is written to reaffirm that "the world is still a mess, has always been a mess, and will continue to be a mess in the future." The only way out of the maze is through raising your consciousness .  First of all, it may appear that everything taking place (both good and bad) is new and has never happened before. But that's simply not true. Everything under the sun has happened before. We're just in a repeat phase of it. Maybe not in the exact same way but as the saying goes "history doesn't always repeat itself but it often rhymes."  Paramahansa Yogananda a great master of self-realization wrote: In this world there is a constant repetition of history, of war-fare and trouble. If we are objective, we beg...
