The Illusory World and its Delusions
The world is not what it seems. Yes, it exists, but your eyes and mind are playing tricks on you.
For example, take a look at the illusions below from (brightside.me) The image of the bicycle wheels appears to be turning, but this is an illusion. The second image is also an illusion. Can you make out what is actually in the image?
I will now try to explain why and how this world is an illusion, and hopefully help you understand it better. Between paragraphs, I will include images to demonstrate how easily appearances can be deceiving. For example, consider the image below what do you see?
Albert Einstein once said, "Reality is merely an illusion, although a very persistent one." His words align concisely with the main points of this article.
Even though it’s challenging to break free from the illusion of this world, escape you must, if you want to achieve true happiness.
The Difference Between Delusion and Illusion
There is a reason I use both the words delusion and illusory. The two words are not interchangeable; in fact, the two are completely antithetical.
Illusion is an external phenomena focused primarily on the physical aspects of creation, whereas delusion is internal and focuses more on the mental aspect.
The tricky part is that the world we perceive causes delusion because of its illusionary nature. It's like a mirage. What we see is no more real than the thoughts we form about it.
To spare myself the awkwardness of trying to use scientific jargon in its proper context, I am utilizing commentary from various well-written articles with links to the original text while also adding my own comments.
Getting To The Point
I came across a fantastic article from Consciouslifestylemag. The editorial beautifully describes the phenomenon of the physical world and how we perceive it.
I’ve placed bits and pieces of the article in my post. You can read the full article at the link above. .
Early in the 20th century the unquestioned assumption that the physical universe is actually physical lead to a scientific search for the elementary “point particle” upon which all life is built, which would prove that reality was not an illusion. But as soon as scientists began smashing electrons and other particles in enormous accelerators, they quickly realized the foundations of the physical world weren’t physical at all—that everything is energy.
Fortunately, many scientists have already taken the leap, and have already questioned the meaning and implications of what we’ve discovered with quantum physics. One of these potential revelations is that “the observer creates the reality.
Therefore, if we really want to observe ourselves and find out what we are, we are really beings of energy and vibration, radiating our own unique energy signature -this is fact and is what quantum physics has shown us time and time again. We are much more than what we perceive ourselves to be.
ME: The “energy” the quote is referring to is actually the body of God. God is spirit; indestructible and omnipresent much like energy. While science typically avoids using the term God when discussing energy, spiritual scientists are well aware of this connection.
Keep in mind that energy cannot be created, and humans cannot create God. However, it is possible to make use of what God has already created. The reality is that everything is energy. In other words "God is everything, and everything is God."

Reality is stranger than we might think. It’s stranger than most people can think. And the reality is that everything is energy and energy is everything. But what is real? How do we define it? As physical beings—oops—as apparently physical beings of course we would define reality in physical terms. But given the inescapable scientific proof we have now gathered that everything is energy at the most fundamental levels, it seems this world (and everybody in it) isn’t physical at all.
ME: When all is said-and-done, the world is an illusion, like a mirage in the desert.
For example, when you dream, you react to your dreams as though they were real. The physical world is God's dream, and He is dreaming it through you. However, this physical dream of God's is far harder to awaken from.
You must elevate in consciousness and realize intuitively that God is the only reality in order to understand the dreamlike nature of the material universe. Only then will you see this world as the illusion that it really is.
Another insightful article that I found on the website Collective-Evolution explores the question Does Consciousness Create Our Material Reality? Here is an example of the article's main points.
Does this mean that all “physical” things possess some type of consciousness? Photons don’t have a brain, do they? What about plants? There is a growing amount of evidence suggesting that plants act and behave in ways suggesting that they are a thinking things, capable of feelings, emotions, perceptions and thoughts.
If consciousness can have such an influence over matter, and is a non physical property that exists within all physical things, could it somehow be responsible for the creation of reality? This has been a common theme discussed within the realms of quantum physics for quite some time. In fact, the discussion of “ether”, this non physical, indescribable “stuff” has been the subject of contemplation for thousands of years. Plato wrote about the ether in his work Phaedo, and explained how life exists within it. He believed what air is to us, the ether is to them. Is the ether alive? Is the universe itself, which could be primarily made up of this non-physical stuff, a conscious living entity?
ME: This universe is a dream, but it's a dream that's much more difficult to wake up from because God is dreaming it through us. Seeing that God is all things and all things are God, plants and all inanimate objects are also of God as nothing can exist without God's thought i.e energy.
Once that energy dissipates from an animate or inanimate object it begins to decay. For example, if you look throughout history you see the decay of old historical buildings. Eventually those buildings will have no trace of existence unless they are consistently renovated with newer materials i.e. energy.
Our bodies decay as well and has no life of its own. It is the soul that breathes and lives within the body that gives it life. Once the soul departs, our body begins to decompose.
You (the soul) will then transition from this plane of life to the next with your consciousness still in tact. However, a more thorough explanation on this matter is best provided in another blog post.
Can you find all the figures hidden in this image?
A fundamental conclusion of the new physics also acknowledges that the observer creates the reality. As observers, we are personally involved with the creation of our own reality. Physicists are being forced to admit that the universe is a “mental” construction. Pioneering physicist Sir James Jeans wrote: “The stream of knowledge is heading toward a non-mechanical reality; the universe starts to look more like a great thought than like a great machine. Mind no longer appears to be an accidental intruder into the realm of matter, we ought rather hail it as the creator and governor of the realm of matter. (R. C. Henry, “The Mental Universe”) The possible influence of human consciousness on the behavior of physical or biological systems has been subject to rigorous research and documentation for a number of years by several researches.
ME: Your world is shaped by your consciousness and this is where you make all your life decisions. Your mind is where you experience life itself. In fact, both physical pain and mental suffering originate in the mind.
For example, when you taste food, it may seem as though the tongue is doing all the work. In reality, the experience of taste is processed by the mind. It is the mind that interprets the taste of food and relays that experience to the tongue.
This explains why your senses of taste, smell, sight, touch, and hearing can be disrupted when something goes wrong in the brain's parietal lobe.
If the brain did not influence these elements, it wouldn't matter what happened to it. The body could function independently. The body is simply an instrument of the mind, and the mind is an instrument of the soul.
Reality has very little to do with appearances and is shaped by your consciousness, or by your view of the world. The external world is simply a by-product of consciousness. Once we move beyond the veil of matter, we can begin to observe the world as it truly is. It's what you cannot see that is true reality.
CONCLUSION
I’ve tried to keep this article as straightforward as possible without going into complex rationales. Even so, it's not a subject that can be understood through simply reading an article.
The realities in this article must be intuitively felt for their knowledge to remain with you. However, I hope you now have a better understanding of the false reality of our material world.
