Apocalypse Now?
The word apocalypse has it origins in Ancient Greek apokálypsis (ἀποκάλυψις) and essentially means a lifting of the veil. Others describe the term as a catastrophic event giving rise to immense destruction and change.
Even so, the interpretation of the word 'apocalypse' depends on one's state of consciousness and how they perceive the world.
The site Bibleodyssey states that:
In contemporary popular culture, we often use the term apocalypse to describe the end of the world. Yet, our word apocalypse comes from an ancient Greek word meaning revelation or unveiling and carries a slightly different nuance.
For scholars, “apocalypse” refers to a genre of literature about supernatural revelation within ancient Mediterranean, East African, and West Asian worlds.
Apocalypse Now - Later - Or When
I came across an interesting article titled The Best Apocalypses in History. The write-up is a reminder that it's not unusual for groups or individuals to concoct apocalyptic predictions in an unpredictable world.
Unfortunately, for many, this worldly transformation includes great mental and physical turmoil.
It's those times when the masses simply can't make rhyme or reason of what's taking place before them. Unless a person's mind is spiritually calm and reflective, the world may appear to be coming to an end.
When in actuality, the turmoil indicates that the world is going through a metamorphosis and will end as we know it. A new age will materialize and humanity will be on the march once again.
Take for example the Y2K and the Millennium Bug apocalyptic prediction. The masses were in a panic as the end of the second millennium approached. The year 1999 would end and the beginning of the year 2000 would follow therefore it was believed that chaos would ensue.
Yet, as the article stated:
according to popular belief, this so-called “Millennium Bug” threatened banking systems, planes, and even the safety of weapon systems, leading to all-consuming chaos on planet Earth.
However, at midnight on January 1, 2000, the world celebrated the new year, and no planes dropped out of the sky.
People have highly emotional perceptions of events in the world if they appear unorderly...which they usually do. Though these events are not a conclusive reality in a spiritual sense, it is a reality in a non-awakened individual's mind.
We can suffice it to say that what's more important is your mental reaction to what appears to take place rather than the purely visual aspect of what's taking place.
The World Is A Stage
Keep in mind that the world has always been in a state of chaos. It is a school with students (souls) at every conceivable grade level thrown together on the world stage to play a certain role.
We have souls playing good parts, bad parts, humble parts, scholarly parts, spiritual parts, terrifying parts and so on. The crucial point is that if we can view the world as a stage with its variety of actors, we can better understand the chaotic interactions that take place in this dimension of existence and be less affected by them.
It doesn't mean that we become inert like a fossil, it simply means that we've reached a certain state-of-being.
We're here to learn lessons and graduate in order to bring ourselves closer to The Creator not to become so involved that we cannot use our intelligence and spiritual wisdom in order to cognize our surroundings.
You can wrestle with varying concepts put forth by numerous individuals, cults, churches, religions and the like, however, to truly understand the world around us, it is necessary to look within ourselves and establish a direct connection between our soul and God.
If you don't make the spiritual effort, you will live in a world full of worry and fear dying a thousand deaths. Keeping the soul bogged down with worldly reformations is a curse upon yourself.
The world promises much but delivers little. Once you figure that out and begin your spiritual journey in earnest, you will experience true happiness free from the throes of the worries and fears of this world.
