Apocalypse Now?

The word apocalypse has it origins in Ancient Greek  apokálypsis (ἀποκάλυψις) and essentially means a lifting of the veil . Others describe the term as a catastrophic event giving rise to immense destruction and change. Even so, the interpretation of the word 'apocalypse' depends on one's state of consciousness and how they perceive the world. The site Bibleodyssey states that: In contemporary popular culture, we often use the term apocalypse to describe the end of the world. Yet, our word apocalypse comes from an ancient Greek word meaning revelation or unveiling and carries a slightly different nuance.  For scholars, “apocalypse” refers to a genre of literature about supernatural revelation within ancient Mediterranean, East African, and West Asian worlds.
