Your Word is Your Wand: A Sequel to the Game of Life and How to Play It By Florence Scovel Shinn

Word Your Wand.jpg

If you read my review for Ms.Shinn's other book "The Game of Life and How to Play It" her sequel "Your Word Is Your Wand" is just as riveting. This sequel hones in on the power of our words and how we can use them for goodwill or impediments in our life. Definitely worth taking note!

Autobiograhy Yogi.jpg

I initially purchased Autobiography of a Yogi in paperback. After reading, underlining, and highlighting points in the book that inspired me, I purchased the hardcover edition. In my view, Autobiography of a Yogi is a treasure. It's not for everyone as it is advanced spiritually; however, it is written for the common individual in simple language. In fact, anyone picking up this book to read simply out of curiosity will be inspired. The content is witty and intelligently written. If you are searching for answers to the mysteries of our existence, you will find that this book will satisfy your curiosity.

The Pineal Gland's Link To Your Spiritual Growth

October 17, 2021

There's a little spot in the center of your brain known in physiological scientific terms as the pineal gland. However, the spiritual scientists uses various terms like the Spiritual Eye, The Third Eye, The Center of Intuition, etc.

As attested by the great sages from ancient times, the pineal gland has more than physical functions. It is the gateway to enlightenment and higher states of consciousness.

So, What Is the Pineal Gland?

According to the site Mindbliss:

"The pineal gland, also known as the pineal body, is a small pine cone shaped gland that lies deep inside the center of the brain in the epithalamus. It is a part of the endocrine system and helps to regulate melatonin, which is a chemical produced in the brain that helps the body sleep at night. The pineal gland function lies in governing the production of hormones as well as the maintenance of the circadian rhythm, which is essentially our sleep/wake cycle."

I have added content from several sites that offer additional information about the pineal gland and it's amazing qualities.

The Pineal Gland's Biological Purpose

Thesleepguru specifies that the physiological purpose of the pineal gland:

"Starting with sleep, the proper function of the pineal gland is fundamental.
It secretes melatonin, the sleep hormone, in response to the light-dark cycle. It’s regulated by the suprachiasmatic nucleus in the hypothalamus. It controls body temperature, hunger, thirst, fatigue, sleep, and circadian rhythms.
It’s also responsible for producing serotonin. Serotonin is your happy hormone and its functions include regulating mood, behavior and digestion.

Research shows that this gland has photo receptors in it and it’s actually lined with similar tissues as the retina. It also has the same wiring to the visual cortex in the brain as the eyes. There are tiny floating crystals in the pineal gland that vibrate when under pressure and give off light. This is called piezo-luminescence and is well documented in research papers."

Though having a physiological explanation for the presence of the pineal gland, enlightened individuals know the metaphysical reason for its existence. We don't stop at restricted worldly explanations.

The Link Between the Pineal Gland and Spiritual Growth

In conjunction with the biological importance of the pineal gland and it's physical function in the body, It's metaphysical purpose should not be overlooked. Many sages, seers, yogis, and others who have come before us discovered the mystery of the "third eye" and discovered that it's manifestation lies within the center of the brain. Some even refer to this wondrous gland as "the principal seat of the Soul and the place where all our thoughts are created."

Some of you may wonder if the Soul is in the pineal gland. I think not; however, the Soul uses the pineal gland as a conduit to manifest thoughts and emotions.

The website Mindless also mentions that:

"In his book Kundalini Tantra, Swami Satyananda Saraswati says, “It has also been called ‘the eye of intuition‘, and it is the doorway through which the individual enters the astral and psychic dimension of consciousness. Perhaps the most common name for this chakra is “the third eye”, and the mystical traditions of every age and culture make abundant references to it. It is portrayed as a psychic eye located midway between the two physical eyes and it looks inward instead of outward.”

The informative site thesleepguru outlines various spiritual organizations and their interpretation of the pineal gland:

-The Buddhists related it to spiritual awakening.

-The Hindus connect it to the third eye which represents intuition and clairvoyance.

-Jesus said that the eye is the lamp of the body and if the eye is clear, your body will be filled with light. This relates to the eye of intuition (pineal gland) and seeing things clearly and in truth.

-In the book of revelation, those with the sign of the beast on their forehead symbolized the closed down pineal gland meaning spiritual death. (as far as I'm concerned, this sentence is very much apropos of what's currently taking place in the world today)

There’s good scientific reasons for the ancients viewing the pineal gland in this way and scientists are now making discoveries which support the miracles of this gland.

Another site that touches on the metaphysical importance of the pineal gland is Heathline:

The role of the third eye has also been discussed in parapsychology, or the study of unexplainable mental phenomena. Some believe that, when open, the third eye acts as a doorway for spiritual communication.

This is said to include:

-telepathy
-clairvoyance
-lucid dreaming
-astral projection
-aura perception

The site also includes food suggestions to assist with opening and purifying the third eye chakra including detoxifying elements. The site makes no material scientific claims to back their suggestions - yet, spiritually we can comprehend their metaphysical significance:

-raw cacao
-goji berries
-garlic
-lemon
-watermelon
-star anise
-honey
-coconut oil
-hemp seeds
-cilantro
-ginseng
-vitamin D3

In my view, meditation is one of the most important steps you can take to connect with your spiritual eye.

In my view, meditation is one of the most important steps you can take to connect with your spiritual eye. Gurus from India have stated that upon meditation when you see a luminous azure hue surrounded by a bold gold shade. That's when you know you've entered into the mystical realm of the third eye. I know from experience!

Some people also use chanting to induce stimulation of the pineal gland. It's totally up to the you. In fact, some of you may prefer mediating and chanting simultaneously while meditating.

I'm not in total agreement with all the suggestions offered on the site Healthline. For example the author answered the question "how would a person know when their third eye chakra is open" by stating:

"Once you begin working with your third eye, you’ll begin to receive guidance messages and visions,” she says. “Strive to have the courage to follow through on what your intuition offers and your third eye strength will only grow.”

I wholeheartedly agree about the intuition part. Still, guidance messages and visions are not always indicative of third eye enlightenment and can be confusing if one's spiritual path is not filled with wisdom and a deep connection with your Higher Self.

In essence, you should become more in-sync with your higher self. Visions and the like are not the most important, even though these instances can occur. In fact, after meditating for a time you learn to trust your decisions more. You have more joy, peace, and compassion for those around you. You are more patient with the follies of human nature. One reason for this is because you see your own short comings and become more understanding of others.

Don't try to force anything, just let your third eye take it's natural course through your efforts of Soul awakening and Self-Realization and everything else will fall into place.

Peace To You On Your Spiritual Journey!
