The Game of Life and How to Play It is a metaphysical classic. Ms.Shinn uses everyday situations to emphasis how

metaphysics and spiritual concepts enhance your life. Believe me, you won't want to put this book down.

Your Word is Your Wand: A Sequel to the Game of Life and How to Play It By Florence Scovel Shinn

Word Your Wand.jpg

If you read my review for Ms.Shinn's other book "The Game of Life and How to Play It" her sequel "Your Word Is Your Wand" is just as riveting. This sequel hones in on the power of our words and how we can use them for goodwill or impediments in our life. Definitely worth taking note!

Autobiograhy Yogi.jpg

I initially purchased Autobiography of a Yogi in paperback. After reading, underlining, and highlighting points in the book that inspired me, I purchased the hardcover edition. In my view, Autobiography of a Yogi is a treasure. It's not for everyone as it is advanced spiritually; however, it is written for the common individual in simple language. In fact, anyone picking up this book to read simply out of curiosity will be inspired. The content is witty and intelligently written. If you are searching for answers to the mysteries of our existence, you will find that this book will satisfy your curiosity.

Everything You Wanted To Know About God But Was Afraid To Ask Part 1

March 10, 2021

People frequently ask questions about who or what God is. This is not surprising as many have a secular view about His nature. In fact, that's one of the reasons why atheists and agnostics believe the way they do. This group of people have a hard time fathoming the notion that a deity actually exist. Or, they accept that a Creator of some kind exists, but haven't proven this truth to themselves.

One of the reasons for this distortion is because of the misconception that God is, well, a human being. Not just any human though. A super human with super powers, sitting up in the sky above the clouds on a golden throne, perhaps 1000s of years old, meting out laws and fire and brimstone. This thinking is ludicrous. But it's understandable. God is not easy to find in His maze of material creation.

In this post, I will try to answer the most frequently asked questions about God. I use "His or Him" at times not because God is a man i.e., I'm simply using the terms as possessive-determiner/pronouns to indicate possession as in "His universe."

I could just as well use "Her or She" but seeing that most people are more familiar with "His or Him" I'll stick to that. What's more, these words are not used to indicate male or female; even though God possess both attributes.

I will keep responses as brief as possible, as the focus is not to try to "convince" anyone of God's existence. If that were the case, this would be the longest blog post ever written! Besides, there's no guarantee that readers of this post would change their mind one-way-or-another.

The search for God is an inner journey. And though words can spark inspiration, when it comes to taking the actual steps, the individual must do their own work . Every Soul must "drink their own water" and "eat their own food."

We can seek guidance but ultimately we must do the work. And if someone doesn't want to do the work, that's their choice. Just like God doesn't force anyone to love Him, a person must be allowed to undertake their divine journey when they are sincerely ready and not before.

"God Is"...and exist whether a person believes or not.

I'm not trying to prove God's existence anymore than a scientist has to prove that water is indeed wet. Perhaps a few people reading this post will be inspired in some way to begin their divine journey. That's about the most I could hope for. So...here we go!

Questions and Answers:

Does God Actually Exist?

God "IS" we have proof of his subsistence by His creation. It's similar to purchasing a smartphone. You know that the smartphone didn't create itself. It had to be produced somewhere.

Intelligence was used to create smartphones just like intelligence was used to create the universe and ALL intelligence comes from God.

God is the producer of this earth. The earth didn't create itself nor did we create ourselves.

Who Or What is God?

God is spirit, omnipresent, and all knowing. Spirit permeates all matter. Nothing is hidden from Him. God is everywhere simultaneously as there is no sense of space and time in His nature. God lives in the eternal now.

As God does not exist in the confines of time-and-space, imagine viewing the whole of creation in tandem like flickering scenes on a move screen. That's how God sees the world.

Who Or What Created God?

Nothing created God. God is eternal with no beginning and no end. There has never been a time when God didn't exist. Only on the earth plane do we live in the illusion of space-and-time birth and so-called death. We see beginnings and endings. Therefore, many believe that someone or something had to create God.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

John 1:1

How Old Is God?

God doesn't exist in time-and-space. God is ageless and timeless.

What is God's Nature?

God's nature is apathetic. The stories in the scriptures of God as angry, jealous, and hateful, are all allegorical. His nature is unconditional love. But not emotional human love.

As God's essence is pure and devoid of ego, His "being" is consistent and bereft of the ebb-and-flow of human emotions. He is not stoic. He is infinite bliss.

The only way an individual can really understand His love is by getting to know Him. It is difficult to love and understand something we do not know.

Why Does God Allow Bad Things To Happen?

I'll try to make this as brief as possible. God gave us free will. You've probably heard that a million times. We can turn to God or reject Him, and go the way of the world. When we choose the world over God, well, you can expect unending troubles because God is the only way out of worldly troubles!

Those troubles include depression, loss, low self-esteem, hate, violence, etc. When we are disconnected (at least in heart-and-mind) from our true God-like nature, we become lost and disillusioned. It's much like a table with four legs and one leg decides it wants to "go its own way."

The table won't function properly until that "missing leg is returned." We don't function properly until we return to our true God-like nature.

Now, this is not to say that a person on the spiritual path is free of adversities. It's all part of the growing process. But faith in God pulls each person through their troubles. When we are aware of God's presence, His help is instantly available.

The evolving individual simply view their troubles as a means of purification of the Soul.

The story of Jesus is the perfect example. Jesus was undisturbed by difficulties as he spoke these words to his followers "Be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

Jesus understood the "unreality" of the world and that "in truth" it is no more real than a movie on a movie screen.

As one grows spiritually and becomes closer to God, they realize that all their issues and troubles come as a result of their inability to discern the world around them based on true spiritual principles.

When disconnected from God it's hard to "re-connect" quickly during times of trouble. Then many wonder "Why did God let this or that happen?"

We can avoid and/or get through calamities if we maintain a strong connection with our Creator. Funnily enough, many are reluctant to credit God when good things happen.

As we grow in spiritual strength, we begin to understand the reason for our difficulties and what lesson needs to be learned. Luckily nature is not vindictive. Soon as one learns the lesson being taught, suffering seizes.

Unfortunately, in most instances, the only way we learn is through bad experiences.

As someone once said "Good judgement comes from experience; and experience, well, that comes from bad judgement."

Is Intuition God Speaking To Us - What Is Intuition?

Yes! Everyone has at one-time-or-another experienced or heard that still small voice that says "go this way or do this or that." You may not hear actual words but you have a "hunch" to do a certain thing, which seems to come from nowhere.

It can be about anything. Whether what to say during an interview for a job or which road to take while driving. The mystification about intuition is that "it knows and knows that it knows." Intuition doesn't explain itself. Many, many people have experienced "a hunch" about a situation and ignored it with disastrous results.

Intuition "is" God's still small voice. But it takes courage to "heed its call." God won't beg you to follow His lead. Remember "you have free will."

What Is Meant By God's Laws?

God's laws are universal laws. These laws are ingrained in creation. They are unchanging and non-negotiable...they are absolute. For example, if (according to the world's standards) a very important person jumped off a 10 story building, God is not going to suspend the law of gravity in order for that person not to hit the ground.

At least we can say that "God is fair." The rain falls on the rich and the poor alike and death catches up with us all.

Because of His abiding nature, we have the safety and love of a Being that is always there whenever we return to Him. God never deserts us, we desert Him.

God is dependable. "I change not." God's nature "is" law.

In the secular world, laws consistently change depending on the state of society at the time. Gods' laws are an immutable part of his nature. He is not influenced by the whims of human egoism.

God's nature is love and luckily for us...God is merciful. When we are in sync with God's laws, we are saved by grace. Man is not merciful, but God is.

Those who grow in awareness begin to understand that universal law "acts through our consciousness" we receive "what we are...not what we want."

Why Did God Create Us?

God created us out of love and to share in His joy.

When we make a "sincere" connection with God, we take on His nature which is joy, understanding, and unconditional love. But these characteristics are not rooted in emotions. It's hard to explain because we're so used to associating words like joy and love with emotions.

A person who is truly connecting with God will become more joyous because He is taking on God's nature.

Emotions are like filters. They "shade the view of the world of the individual" depending on their state of consciousness. There are many different shades but there is "one" reality. God is that "one" reality.

We will not "find Him" through the lens of emotions. Let's suffice it to say that emotions are the key difference between being "religious" and being "spiritual."

It's something that's hard to explain. Nonetheless, each person sincerely on the path of self-realization will eventually understand this.

Why Does God Allow Death?

On the earth plane we experience the delusion of what we call death. Death is simply the passing to another dimension. Death is a release from this earth.

We can never die because "our true essence is spirit" and spirit can never die.

Actually through death, God is doing us a favor. Do you want to live on this earth forever? Think about it!

When we "die" i.e. go on the other side, we simply continue where we left off on earth. That's why it's not important "when we die" but "how we die."

What we take with us when we leave earth is our consciousness. A person who dies in peace will find peace on the other side. A person who dies full of anger and hate will find that on the other side too.

Then after a break, it's time to take another earthly journey until we find our way home in Spirit. Which usually means after we become tired of the world and its disappointments...and want to find our way back to God.

Further explanation about this matter takes more in-depth understanding on the part of the individual, as we step into the realm of reincarnation. Which I won't go into. I'm only covering the basics in this post.

Why Won't God Perform Miracles?

This question always makes me giggle. Life is a miracle...!!! Just the thought of us floating in infinite space is a miracle. The seasons, the air we breath, the birth of children, the crops we grow, the seasons, the animals, our thoughts, desires, everything is a MIRACLE...!!!
